Scissors, budding shears, floral tape, paper string, wire, card holders and finishing items. Small, light and inexpensive – but these are the items that decide how fast you can work on a busy day.

How to choose

• Scissors vs budding shears – full-length scissors for stems and paper, budding shears for fine work and de-thorning roses. This is the accessory that pays back fastest.
• Floral tape – buy it in bulk. On the volume days you will go through several rolls per person, and running out mid-afternoon is the single most common supply failure.
• Paper string – cheaper than ribbon and holds a knot better on kraft paper. Stock both and let the order decide.
• Card holders – the difference between a bouquet and a gift that can be handed over.

Accessories are the cheapest items to add to a shipment and the easiest way to reach the next quantity tier, since they are light and near-indestructible in transit.
